I am here for all the book talk! I had some friends read 'Story of the Eye' a couple years back and were hooked in a way I never could with Bataille's writing. Which, I think is the point... write so candidly that it will excite some and repulse others. That in itself is a craft. Currently rading: Malibu Rising by TJR (which I know you're a fan of!) and is so wildly different than Story of the Eye. Balance!

Yes! We will definitely do some book talking here - there is a lot to discuss.

Bataille's writing feels like they're trying to shock the reader, but really it's coming off as something he wishes to do, but can't. So he writes about it in a story form. I'm not shocked because I rather it be a porno then whatever the hell this is - yet I can't look away. I want to finish the book to see how it ends.

Malibu rising was my absolute favorite by TJR and some of the characters connect to Carrie Soto is back and Seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo. It's a beautiful read - true balance.

I'm going to read Cleopatra and Frankenstein book next by Coco Mellors
