Thoughts on Love Is Blind: After The Alter
Not a lot of character development and it was hard to watch 🫣
I have to keep it real - After The Alter showed no character development. It was hard to watch. Half the couples do not appear to be as happy as they pretend to be for the show and Netflix left out important details. Let's get started though...
Alexa & Brennon:

What I want to know, is why didn't Netflix address the fact that Brennon was arrested twice for domestic abuse. The Daily Beast reports that "county court records show Lemieux posted a $5,000 bond on May 4, 2021, which would've been just a few weeks before Love Is Blind Season 3 began filming that summer." Instead of Alexa's father bringing the domestic abuse up at the dinner table, he belittles Brennon instead highlighting how powerless he is in their relationship - in front of everyone by the way. I'm tired of Alexa and Brennon (the lap dog), acting ho·li·er-than-thou, especially when it comes to Cole. Brennon has no original thoughts and is only upset with Cole because of the lies Zanab told Alexa. I would also have liked to see Alexa unpack her issue with her father (Adam) dating a woman half his age. The step-mom is Morgan, 33 years old and stunning. Alexa is 28.Â
Zanab & Cole:

Zanab needs to understand how strong letting go can be. She also hung out with Cole's ex-wife after the reunion and the show didn't even highlight how weird that was. During the reunion, I thought everything was hashed out and addressed - including the cuties scene, but instead, they continued to drag this Cole hate. Yes, he’s childish. But is he malicious? Not at all. It's not as entertaining as Netflix thinks. She drained me and claimed she went to therapy and was healed - sure Jan. The beef she has with Cole seems one-sided. He's growing a following on Tik Tok, appears to be living his best life, dating, and healing from the show. Meanwhile, Zanab is walking around with a stick up her ass. Let it go girl - it's been over.Â
Bartise & Nancy:

Bartise may not be as bad as SK, but he deserved the heat Cole received. He was smug, and disrespectful and led Nancy on. I get a lot of women find him attractive - But I do not. He lacks emotional maturity and I don't believe he was ever kind to Nancy. I realized Nancy was not over Bartise which explains why she kept hanging out with him even after he said no. I’d personally be embarrassed and would keep my distance. He mentioned he was a flirt and didn’t realize how that could cause mixed signals - ugh. Luckily Nancy’s family set her straight and continued to keep it real.Â

SK & Raven:

I forget when this show was specifically filmed, but finding out SK was seeing other women the entire time of the show was mind-boggling. He said no at the alter and tbh, Raven should have ended things there. But she gave him a chance and he also gave off this good-guy persona when he was lying the entire time. Then dared to ask Raven for her hand in marriage! It's like he thought he could get away with it knowing damn well the Internet exists and the women found out he was on TV. Silly! I was really surprised and disappointed because Raven is probably the best person on this show. She deserved better than SK and I hope she finds actual love and that her Pilates career takes off. SK did not appear at the end of the episode to share his side of the story.
Matt & Colleen:

Look, I don't know if she still needs to blink twice or not, but these two do not appear to be happy. Although married, they still do not live together (yes I’m aware some folks do this) and that's partly because of the un-neutered dog. Like, please be serious 🙄 Apparently Colleen likes to sleep naked and doesn’t feel comfortable with the dog sleeping with them. So Matt should A. Neuter the dog or B. Don’t and they just break up and move on from each other. They bickered most of the time and even Raven commented on how awkward it is. I was bored of them and it's now starting to feel like a fake relationship, in my opinion. Â
I do hope this is the end of Love Is Blind. Something about this season left a bad taste in my mouth. It wasn’t that great and I felt the show should have had a psychologist nearby. Thanks for reading!
SO many thoughts on this, which is surprising considering how boring I found the after the altar episodes (oops). Completely agree, there’s no character development, and mostly I just felt sad for everyone? Well, sad for the women, let’s make that distinction. Nancy, letting go is hard but girl, I so wish you could do it. Colleen annoys the heck outta me and she’s so wishy washy but she deserves so much better than Anger Management Matt. Alexa looked amaaaaaaazing in that bday dress but even though they seem like the happiest couple, I see that one combusting soon. I don’t even want to touch on SK - if Netflix wanted drama and to raise viewership they had so much opportunity to do it. Instead, they avoided bringing up any of the shitty things the dudes did and focused on how emotional the women were. Boring. And lastly, poor Cole keeps getting the short end of the stick. He’s tried to talk to Zanab so many times and she just doesn’t listen. Out of all of them, I think he’s shown the most growth and maturity and honestly I’m here for it.
