Tea time: Here's what you missed in pop culture of February 2023

A monthly round up of things that happened in the Zeitgeist

January flew by so I started this roundup in February. It’s so hard to keep track of every single trending topic that goes on in the world. So I decided to make a list of trending topics so that I won’t forget or force myself to waiting till the end of year to share - you feel me? Alrighty, here’s the list and feel free to Google them for more info- this is just an outline.

February 2023:

• Spotify best new artist party

• Netflix tells everyone we’re not allowed to share our passwords. But after the backlash via twitter, they said that post was in error

  

• Armie Hammer redemption arc - He talked about the abuse he faced by his pastor when he was a child. Some felt it was an excuse and tone deaf

• Ellen and Portia renewed their vowels and Kris Jenner officiates their wedding - Ellen looked shocked tbh.

  • Kris Jenner officiating a wedding didn’t surprise me because in 2009 she co-founded the California Community Church - probably a tax write off shrug 🤷🏽‍♀️

• Ghilaine Maxwell doing interviews from Jail

  • She strongly believes Epstein was murdered

  • All the names in the black book are still hidden

  • She did not seem prepared to do this interview

• The Grammy’s

  • Harry Style won album of the year

  • Lizzo won record of the year

  • Beyonce broke the record for best wins

  • Bonnie Raitt (song of the year)

  • Samara Joy best new artist

  • Best Pop Solo Performance: Adele

  • Ben Affleck didn’t look happy to be there - a running joke but new concern the Internet has.

  • Best Pop Duo: “Unholy,” Sam Smith and Kim Petras

  • “Christians” or random Internet people felt Sam’s performance was satanic

• Chris Brown had no idea who Robert Glasper was. Chris lost Best R&B Album to Robert at the Grammys and went off on Instagram confused. Then later apologized after getting clowned on Twitter

• Chloe Bailey teams up with Chris Brown for a new single and can’t read the room and fans are mad about his history of abuse with women in general

• State of the Union Address:

  • Joe Biden’s wife kissed Kamala’s Husband on the lips and the Internet meme’d it

  • Marjorie acted drunk in her white fur coat yelling LIAR at Biden

  • Besides the importance of the state of union - this is what stuck out LOL. Remember - nothing I discuss here will be too important. The news exist

• Can you get secondhand embarrassment for an entire company? Because that's what watching Google's Live From Paris event felt like. Google's Bard AI technology was reported to be inaccurate and faced event blunders

  • They misplaced the phone and someone pointed out the demo about Bard, had an incorrect statement in it. With language models this can be expected, but it caused a huge drop in Google’s stock

• Beyonce tickets are hella expensive via Ticketmaster

  • And now this random pastor believes if you buy the tickets you'’re going to hell - burn baby burn

• Superbowl - Riri is pregnant

  • People found a way to complain about it

  • Some felt it was boring

  • Trump called her performance an epic fail LOL

• UFO | Balloon, Train Derailment:

  • Most folks don’t care about UFO’s cause we still have to work, and have our own shit to worry about

  • The Chinese Balloons, Ohio Train Derailment could become full blown ecological crisis (newsweek)

• Fox news getting upset at Chelsea Handler comedy video she filmed for not wanting kids. Conservatives got triggered by it for some reason and talked about it on the news 🙄

• Penn Badgley helping a friend with his music career doing dances on Tik Tok. He also wants to stop doing sex scenes on tv shows since he’s married IRL

• Did Barney get buccal fat removal? Obviously not, but the original Barney changed and I’m not sure why. I prefer the old look!

• Don Lemon apologizes to CNN colleagues for sexist remarks about Nikki Haley and women's "prime" ages last week.

• Selena, Hailey, Justin Beiber, Kylie and Kendal - Internet beefing.

• Michael B. Jordan calls out former classmate over claim he’s ‘corny
